At Teams Squared, we aspire to help law firms and legal teams globally transcend borders in the way they work.
Our Story
Born on the sunny shores of Sri Lanka, Teams Squared’s mission is a simple. It all started from a simple observation we made in our homeland: there was a significant disparity between the quality of our local lawyers, and the opportunities available to them.
Emerging markets, encompassing South Asia, Southeast Asia, Africa, and LATAM, are abundant with highly qualified and talented lawyers, though regional and local opportunities in these areas remain limited.
The existing avenues often fall short in offering satisfactory remuneration and lacked the exposure conducive for growth. This scenario isn’t just a disservice to the legal talent here, but a missed opportunity for the global landscape as well.
Interestingly, through our engagements with law firms in more mature markets, a contrasting challenge came to light. Small to medium size law firms internationally find it tough to identify the right talent that are within budget to unlock the operational scaling they need to grow.
Firms struggle with either training lawyers at high costs only for them to jump ship, or commit to long term employment contracts, unsure of whether the candidates meet the mark.
The result? Partners taking on more and more case load, without the necessary support to grow healthily. We realized that the solution to both these challenges lay in bridging the talent gap. By creating a conduit between the untapped legal talent in South and South East Asia and the law firms in need across more mature markets we could help make a difference.
We embarked on this journey with a dual aim: to provide legal professionals from our region a platform to grow their exposure and income by engaging with global law firms, and to offer law firms a seamless, cost-effective avenue for hiring top-notch legal talent.
This ethos of bridging borders to foster growth and opportunities is the cornerstone of Teams Squared, and drives us every day towards creating a global legal ecosystem where talent and opportunities meet beyond geographical constraints.
